Hon Anna Lai J granted an applicant convicted of indecent assault bail pending appeal (against conviction) after considering the intended grounds of appeal put forward for and on behalf of the applicant.

The appellant applicant was convicted by Magistrate Jason Wan and sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment. The prosecution case was that on a day unknown, the appellant father, touched the various body parts of his daughter. The Judge found that there was a reasonable prospect of success that a reasonable bystander might come to the view that the appellant applicant had not received a fair trial.
